It was once a farm owned by Attorney General John Woods Harris and from as far back as 1998 Town & Country named it as one of the 25 Platinum Addresses in the United States. Austin High School, known as Austin High, was founded in 1881 and is the oldest continuously operating high school in the state.
The private Girls’ School of Austin serves students K-8. St Andrew’s Episcopal School is a private co-ed elementary, middle and high school for K-12.
